This is it! The original Dorsel's Goetta recipe Just found my 'OLD' Goetta recipe I had cut from a bag of Dorsel's pinhead oatmeal many many years ago. The original recipe grinds the beef and pork together and doesn't use pork sausage. Goetta was created Cincinnati's German immigrants or by Irish immigrants from Louisville Kentucky. for those that want to know more. go to

The taste is awesome, but I have a problem with the goetta keeping its form. I was wondering if I'm supposed to cover the mixture again after adding the meats and onion, or do I cook it without the lid? I cooked it with the lid and wondered if it kept too much moisture to allow it to hold a patty form. Thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe! I'm from Cincy too and grew up eating this as a child. My husband and I live in Richmond, KY now and I have been craving goetta.

Thank you, I love this recipe. My mother made it when I was a kid and I always wondered where I could find a recipe.
