What a delicious cake - simply heavenly for a chocolate lover!!

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F butter an 8-inch round cake pan; line botom with wax paper. Butter paper; dust with cocoa and tap out excess.
  2. Into a medium bowl, sift together cocoa, flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowel, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each, then beat in vanilla. With mixer on low speed, add flour alternating with the sour cream by beginning and ending with the flour.
  4. Spread batter in prepared pan. Tap pan firmly on countertop to force out large air bubbles. Bake until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, 30-35 minutes. Remove from oven, Cool 10 minutes in pan, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely (bottom side up).
  5. GLAZE: Place semisweet chocolate in a medium bowl. In a saucepan, bring the cream to a boil. Pour over the chocolate; whisk until smooth. Let cool until thick yet pourable, 2-3 minutes.
