Tastes great! This IS better than with just water. Grandma was offended that I used eggs, but that's ok. Highly recommend the electric mixer.
I used between 3 and 3/4 cup powdered sugar and 4 and 3/4 cup. The consistency was great. Thick and smooth. Dried strong, held graham cracker structures together. Also was complimented on the taste (better than water and powdered sugar). Definitely a recipe to keep.
Works like a charm. Half is enough for a medium-sized house plus a batch of cookies. "Glue" aspect quite strong - held large candies quickly. Saves well in the fridge. Thanks!
Perfect!!! Two houses done!
Fantastic and perfect for our needs. Next time I might do a 1/2 batch as the recipe makes quite a lot. Thanks AngelaC.
easy peasy!!! sent pic of our house party to share! thanks!
great icing. worked like a charm and makes quite a bit. will keep on hand for next time!
This recipe worked awesome. We used it to glue together a gingerbread house and it was so easy and held together perfectly!
My 8 year old helped me make this today after school and boy did we make a mess! I don't like working with powdered sugar and it was the first time I'd made icing like this. Great recipe though...great directions too! Love the wording of the first step- "large CLEAN bowl". :D I went majorly OCD on the kitchen afterwards, so it's all cleaned up and like it never even happened, but we'll have the cute house to show for it. Thanks so much!
My first time making royal icing and it turned out great!! I used your recipe to glue and decorate a gingerbread house and also decorate gingerbread men. The icing was perfect. I was a bit unsure of how long to beat the eggwhites/cream of tartar for. I ended up deciding to just beat them until they were mixed well and then started adding the sugar. Thanks so much for your recipe!
