"Refreshing summer drink, good for tea time, too! From the Betty Crocker website several years ago. Take advantage of lemons on sale and enjoy a sip on a spring afternoon!"

directions

  • Mix sugar water and gingerroot in an 8 quart heavy pan.
  • Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and cool 15 minutes. Remove gingerroot.
  • Pour sugar mixture into a pitcher or large glass or plastic container.
  • Stir in lemon juice and refrigerate at least on hour until chilled.
  • Serve over ice garnished with lemon slices.
  • I'm not sure of the number of servings. I've halved this and served it at tea attended by 9 and had plenty.
  • Cooking time is chilling time.

  1. Love the two together.! Thanks!

  2. This is really great, with just the right amount of ginger-zing! I only made half the recipe and used Splenda for the sugar (only 1 cup for half recipe). We were RV'ing in the hot part of the state, and this really hit the spot! Made for Summer Comfort Cafe 2009.

  3. Love it! Very refreshing.

  4. I thought the ginger might be a little too strong but no it turned out just right. Thanks.

  5. Loved it but wanted to offer a serving suggestion. Chilled this in the ice box before serving and the first sip was a bit disappointing; the lemon was too sharp and the ginger absent. Added some ice and the beverage's flavors magically transformed and balanced the two ingredients so well -- a light pucker tartness with some soft peppery hues. Just perfect on a hot humid day.

I live with my husband of 34 years in Oregon. We have 3 great kids and 4 beautiful grandchildren, 6 year old triplets and a soon to be 2 year old. Our daughter lives in Athens, Greece with her husband and our youngest, a son, just got married last summer. My stepson and his wife are the parents of our grandchildren and live about an hour away. Our family is growing and it's always fun to have them all together! I love to travel. I have just returned from a trip to Vietnam and have visited our daughter in Greece several times. During my travels I always enjoy the local food and have fun trying to re-create it at home. To pay the bills, I've been a hairstylist for 40 years and I still love it. I knit, sew, read and I'm just beginning to become interested in quilting, digital scrapbooking and geneology.
