Delicious cucumber salad, which made for an excellent side dish to Peppery-Sweet Oven-Roasted Salmon that I had last night for supper. I used extra virgin olive oil with balsamic vinegar and pepper. Thanks for posting! Made for More Than Sauerkraut & Dumplings in the German Forum.
This received mixed reviews. dh wouldn't go near it because it had green beans (too bad, I'm the cook & *I* love 'em!) but my close friend who has a German relative pegged this as typically German instantly & loved it! The rest of us liked it well enough but not an overwhelming favorite. Not sure why, because all the components are yummy. Maybe it's an odd combination for us? Ah well...made & reviewed for German Tag 4/12.
I grew up with this salad too! This was the only dressing my mom knew back then. Brought back nice memories.Thanks. Made for The Voracious Vagabonds/ZWT6
We liked this salad, was very simple and fresh with veggies from my garden. Used balsamic vinegar and no sugar. ZWT6 Thanks for posting!!
This was pretty bland. Although it seemed like it was going to be the perfect amount of dressing. I did leave it some while with the dressing on before it was served, maybe that is why? I used normal size Canadian English cucumbers, shallots for the onion, the optional tomatoes for which I used grape tomatoes as that is what I had on hand. I used canola oil, white vinegar, sea salt and the freshly ground black pepper I also did add some sugar per preference here. I wouldn't make this salad again. Made for ZWT6 Germany/Benelux region for my team, The Ya Ya Cookerhood.
Really easy to prepare and tasty! I used the white onion, cherry tomatoes and omitted the salt (personal preference). Thanks for sharing!
Excellent!!! This is how my Grandmother, Mother and now I make our cucumber salad. The only change I made was to add a few shakes of garlic salt (my addition to our family's dish), other then cutting it down to serve two(still used full amount of dressing). We like it tangy so didn't add any sugar but did add the the tomatoes. Thanks for posting the recipe. Made for ZWT6.
