I love German Chocolate Cake, but sometimes have cravings for pie, so this one does it for me. It's great with a dollap of whipped cream on top too!!!

Directions

  1. In a sauce pan, melt chocolate and butter over low heat, stirring to mix well.
  2. Remove from the heat and gradually blend in milk; set aside.
  3. In a bowl, combine sugar, cornstarch and salt.
  4. Stir in eggs and vanilla.
  5. Gradually stir in chocolate mixture.
  6. Pour into pastry shell.
  7. Combine pecans and coconut; sprinkle over filling.
  8. Bake at 375 degrees F.
  9. for 45-50 minutes or until puffed and browned.
  10. Cool 4 hours.
  11. Chill (filling will become firm as it cools).
