To die for pretty much sums it up if you are a german chocolate fan. I've made this 3 times in last 2 weeks - lots of requests!!! No room for improvement as far as this family goes. Thanks for a great recipe!!!

Wonderful recipe! I made it for a fairwell pot luck...people were skipping the main course and going straight to the dessert table to 'reserve' themselves a piece! The only reason I can even rate it is because I licked the slicing knife. :o(

This cheesecake is pure genius!!! german chocolate cake cheesecake= a bite of heaven... i made it for a Christmas get together and everyone begged me to bring another cheesecake for new years! i did one thing differently that made it taste sooo good! i lightly toasted the coconut... also i think i used a cheap brand of german chocolate, so next time im gonna try a nicer brand or maybe more of a milk chocolate.

ahem..husband may not get to take this to work afterall..this cheesecake ROCKS!!!! Followed the recipe on the most part, used 8oz of mascarpone (love the smooth/richness in cheesecakes) plus the 16 oz cream cheese. the only other tweak I made was toasted the coconut (for the decorative topping only) something about toasted coconut just warms my soul!! I used the coconut for the coconut pecan topping as is, white..the color combinations of the white & coconut is stunning..thanks you so much for a FABULOUS cheesecake recipe Dee514!! (:

Made it for a birthday party at work and it was definitely a hit. I like the recipe because if people don't want the nuts or cocnut they can scrape the topping off. The only thing I may change next time is to make the crust a chocolate graham cracker based instead of the cake like crust in the recipe.

I made this for my sister's birthday, and it was enjoyed by everyone. It's basically a chocolate cheesecake with the german chocolate cake frosting on top. It was very beautiful and tasty. While this was really good cheesecake, I don't think I'd make this again. BTW, when initially cooking the crust, my crust shrank, leaving the edges of the pan open. This didn't affect the taste of the cheesecake, but it did allow for some of the batter to drip out of the bottom. Thankfully I had a pan underneath to catch the drips.

I made this a day in advance as a special desert for my husband and my kids. It was easy to make and this was a first of no cracks for me as well. My family loved this and I love how simple it was to make. Hubby said several times how awesome it was. Thank you for sharing this keeper of a recipe.
