These were excellent. I used the andes mint chips and wow got to love mint and chocolate This was very simple. I did not add the cocnut or rasins.
This sounded so good and my husband loves German Chocolate Cake, so since he is home today...I thought I would make cookies. Then...all I had was a Dark Chocolate Cake mix, and they turned out great! The only other change that I maid was I added only 1/2 C. coconut, and my husband cut up some mini-Almond Joy bars that he added to the top.
Can I say YUMMY?? I'm not usually a fan of cake mix cookies, but these are GREAT! I had a German chocolate cake mix that was very expired, but it smelled okay so I thought I'd try these. :) I blended my oatmeal a bit to make it like quick oats. I didn't measure the coconut or the chocolate chips, just poured some in (probably less than the amounts called for) and I used some butterscotch chips as well. Oh, and I used applesauce instead of oil, and omitted the raisins.
these cookies are great. made them yesterday. i followed the recipe exactly except for adding just 1 cup of chocolate chips instead of the whole pack. loved the addition of the coconut. :) i wonder if they would turn out more moist/chewy if i use applesauce in place of the oil? thanks for a great recipe grandma2969.
These cookies are absolutely wonderful. The combination of coconut and oatmeal really goes well together. Everyone who tried them loved them, even someone who isn't a fan of chocolate. I didn't have raisins on hand, so I baked without those and I left in the oven for 11 minutes. Thanks for the great recipe!
Absolutely marvelous, thanks for sharing
I actually saw this recipe first on the box of Pillsbury Cake Mix, but came sniffing around the 'zaar in hopes of finding nutrition information. I'm glad I did, because I loved your addition of coconut to the dough! What's German Chocolate Cake without coconut?? I substituted in a half cup unsweetened applesauce for the oil and used Egg Beaters for the eggs, and found these quite tasty. I got just over four dozen cookies, they took about 10 minutes to cook, and I definitely think the good flavors come out stronger once the cookies have cooled. Good recipe!
