I can't remember where I found this; I just remember that it's a keeper.

I made this a couple of nights ago and it was wonderful! As most folks know I'm not normally much of a fan of meatloaf...after many years of making a 1/2 pound of cheap hamburger stretch into a meatloaf for 4 when the kids were growing up....and money was very tight. There is only one other meatloaf recipe on this site that I recently tried that I actually enjoyed eating. This one comes close to even beating it! I liked it so much that I took a big slice and made a sandwich out of it later in the evening. Like one of the other chef's must have done...I placed extra applesauce on the top...since I lost my appetite for just putting ketchup on the top. Fabulous! Doesn't taste like traditional meatloaf...probably why I liked it!
My family loves this meatloaf. The applesauce gives it a sweet taste. I generally add a ketchup based topping (1/4 c. ketchup, 2 Tbsp brown sugar, and 1/4 tsp yellow mustard) the last 15 minutes. Great the next day as well
I wish my BF would have liked it better. Cause I found it delicious and different. I used homemade applesauce. I like the taste of applesauce. He gave it 3 stars and I 5 stars, so that's why I gave it 4 stars. Thanks Debbie :) made for photo tag game.
