Spicy sauce for General Tso's Chicken.
Make and share this General Tso's Sauce recipe from Food.com.
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons rice wine
- 1 1⁄2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
- 1 tablespoon chili paste
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons cornstarch
- Mix all ingredients in a saute pan.
- Cook at medium temperature until thickened, stirring occasionally.
Delicious and very simple. I added some ginger, fish / oyster sauce and minced garlic.
It was great uncooked (minus the cornstarch) and I added 1 T minced garlic and 1/2 T ginger for some added kick. For the chili paste I used siracha. The sauce is so great on its own (I could probably drink all of it), so the next time I make it I might not modify it at all.
I used it to coat fried tofu and served it atop steamed broccoli with green onions and sesame seeds.
I served this sauce over roasted chicken pieces, and it was very tasty. It tasted more like a Hoisin sauce than General Tso's to me though. Next time I think I would reduce the soy sauce and increase the chili paste. Very yummy though!
