THIS WAS SO GOOD! I added two more cloves of garlic to the beef as it was browning, and did everything else the same! YUMMY!! This is defintely a keeper! Thanks RecipeNut!
This fast & economical dish turned out to be a real kid pleaser- mine asked for SECONDS! I used cream of chicken, and added minced garlic to the beef mix, and a little garlic powder to the soup mix. The instant potatoes I used tasted like "real" spuds. Instead of oven heating, I nuked the casserole for about 4 minutes. My daughter even ate the brocoli. This is definitely going to be a regular, and one I"ll share with all my friends.
Just plain good ol' food. My wife and I loved this, it was easy to make an very cheap. I tossed some onions in while browning the meet came out great.
I tweaked this recipe a bit. I used corn instead of the mixed veggies and I added a can of diced tomatoes. I also stirred in some garlic power and horse raddish to the mashed potatoes before smearing them over the top of the casserole. Then I sprinkled some cheddar cheese on top right before it was finished baking. Dish was really really yummy! Only problem was it had no eye appeal. It turned out pretty soupy...I would recommend serving it in bowls instead of on plates.
We really liked this recipe - filling & lots of flavour. However, the soup turns the mashed potatoes an odd gray colour.
Very good -- a hearty, stick-to-your-ribs kind of one-dish meal. We sliced and steamed 3 fresh carrots and used them instead of the frozen vegetables. (We would have added fresh broccoli and cauliflower, but didn't have any on hand.)
