This recipe came with the very first bread machine I ever had by Oster. It is still my families favorite out of all the recipes I have tried. Cooking time is based on the time it takes my bread maker to make the bread. I make rolls and breadsticks by using the dough only cycle. I make a dozen rolls or 2 dozen breadstick.
- 295.73 ml water
- 14.79 ml butter, softened
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- 768.91 ml bread flour
- 29.58 ml sugar
- 7.39 ml salt
- 2.46 ml dried rosemary, crushed
- 1.23 ml dried thyme leaves
- 1.23 ml dried basil
- 11.09 ml bread machine yeast (or quick acting yeast)
- Put all ingredients into your bread machine in order per your owner manual. Bake on white bread setting for a 1 1/2 lb. loaf.
Oh yum! I loved the blend of herbs used in this recipe. I served it with an Italian style chicken pasta dinner, though I think it would be great with any Mediterrean-themed meal. I actually wanted rolls instead of a single loaf, so I set my bread machine to dough. Once it went through the first rise cycle in the machine, I then shaped the dough into 12 balls that I placed in the cups of a muffin pan and let it rise a second time. I then baked the rolls at the same temperature as listed for the loaf, but the time was reduced to about 13 1/2 minutes. And they came out so nicely browned, and armomatic enough to send waves of fresh-baked bread smells all throughout the house. These were just awesome rolls. Thank you for sharing your recipe, Kerena.
I have used this recipe for making salt sticks "bread sticks rolled in course sea salt".
I put my machine on dough make the sticks and roll in salt. I bake them at 325 for 25 min, then 375 for 10 min's more. There so easy to make and, My wife and I love them with soups and stews.
Thank You for sharing this.
