I always use this recipe for my garlic bread. I don't always use the herbs...in that instance, I reduce the amounts of the other ingredients, especially the mayo. I have added an sprinkling of Italian or pizza blend cheese on top, also. This is a no-fail recipe. Everyon always likes it. Be careful to watch it under the broiler, though. It can burn very quickly!

This is fabulous!! I thought I'd give it a try because I had leftover French bread and it was a huge hit! I prepared it exactly as described except I used a loaf of French bread split open instead of sourdough. My husband said it was the best garlic bread he'd ever had and I have to agree with him!
This was very good! I shredded some mozzerella and Cheddar cheese and put this on top after letting the bread toast up a tad...Great with just a salad and soup!
I don't know, maybe it was using low fat mayo that did it...but this came out terribly. The texture of the topping was a bit soupy, and of course unnaturally white for garlic bread. I could see that the proportion of garlic to the rest of the ingredients was low, so I doubled the garlic, but I think I should have halved the mayo. My oldest son's reaction was: What does this taste like [pause]... it almost tastes like you put mayo on instead of garlic.
Wow this was so good. I served it to our small group with some marinara sauce. People couldn't get enough of it. Everyone kept grabbing another piece. I had extra hamburger buns and used that instead of the sourdough and it tasted awesome. MMM this is so good.
