I have used this same recipe for years. I typically bake them during the holidays as they are a favorite of everyone. They freeze well. I simplfy the topping by microwaving for one minute instead of stovetop cooking. I also save 1/3 of the oatmeal mix to spoon on top of topping. Pressing the bottom oatmeal mix is the most difficult of preparation. I wet my hands while pressing. My best batch was when I used a can of sweetened condensed milk that was 6 months old (it had started carmelizing in the can.) For peanut butter lovers, I add a couple of spoons of peanut butter to the oatmeal mixture

These are great. I used semi sweet chips instead of milk chocolate. Delish!! I brought some to work and everyone loved them. Thanks for posting the recipe.
