  1. preheat oven to 375*.
  2. grease and flour a cookie sheet.
  3. in large bowl, cream butter with both sugars, beat in eggs, cream and vanilla --
  4. sift 2 1/2 cups flour together with baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg --
  5. stir into egg mixture.
  6. dredge dried fruits in remaining flour, and fold in batter --
  7. along with oats --
  8. drop 2 tbls of batter per cookies onto sheets.
  9. and flatten with a spoon.
  10. bake 10-12 minutes or light browned --
  11. carefully transfer to racks.
