Fruit in Caramel and Whiskey Sauce

Fresh fruit and smooth caramel meet the smokeyness of whiskey. Recipe from Glorian ruoka&viini magazine.

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 150 ml sugar
  • 100 ml water
  • 100 ml whipping cream
  • 12 lemon, juice of
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons whiskey, preferably bourbon
  • 2 bananas
  • 20 grapes
  • 12 lemon, juice of


  1. Measure sugar and water in a thick bottom saucepan. Bring to boil slowly, stirring constantly. Continue to simmer and stir until the sauce turns light golden brown.
  2. Lower the heat and gradually add cream, stirring constantly.
  3. Add lemon juice, butter and whiskey, stir to combine. Let cool until lukewarm.
  4. Halve and seed rinsed grapes. Slice peeled bananas.
  5. Place banana slices on the bottom of 4 dessert dishes (martini glasses look nice too!). Sprinkle with lemon juice. Arrange halved grapes on top.
  6. Pour lukewarm caramel sauce on top of the fruit and serve immediately.

A wonderful dessert that looks like a lot of work went into making but very easy. I used bourbon and kiwi instead of grapes. The caramel sauce was amazing with the fruit! Will be making this again soon.

Delicious, and so easy! I decided to sub strawberries for the grapes, as I had those on hand. Loved the caramel sauce.
