Excellent chili!! will make again
Excellant chili Caroline! I could have sworn I had a packet of Chili seasoning in the cuboard, but didn't! So concocted my own, cumin, chili powder, paprika and lots of red chilie flakes. Turned out sooo good! did the rest of the recipe as written and did use the pinto beans. I will be making this one again, thanks for posting!
My family loved this chili. They don't like beans so I left them out, everything else was exactly by the recipe. It came out slightly sweet, which we loved. It was easy and yummy, I will definitly make this again, thank you!
I make chili quite often - we love it in our family, and not only did the title appeal to me, but also the fact that this has green pepper and optional beans in it! I did not have any pinto beans, so I used red kidney beans to GREAT effect! I was VERY lucky enough to have a Williams Tex-Mex Chili seasoning mix sent to me by a dear friend in the States - and the seasoning was DELECTABLE! I added extra garlic - we are ALL garlic fiends - and this recipe was cooked long and slow on top of a woodburning stove - SAME principal as a crockpot! Great comforting flavours - I served this with home-made cornbread muffins, my own concocted recipe which I must post now! Loved the extra veggies in this as well as the beans! Frosty nights in our home were banished last night Caro - Merci! FT:-)
This is a good cup o' chilli. I made just as stated except I used ground turkey. I use 1/2 c of chilli sauce. Just right for spicyness for my DH. I added a little hot sauce at the table. I love the way long simmering makes chilli taste.
