Absolutely the cutest things. I made them for a co-worker's birthday and even the men in the office seemed to find them inviting! I used Darn Good Chocolate Cake ( Cake Mix Cake) for the cup cakes and Kittencal's Chocolate Frosting/Icing for the icing. I ran out of green gum drops so I also used orange gum drops, so they looked like tree frogs! Thank you for one of the most fun birthday goodies I have made.
Brilliant! Made these for the kid's table at our annual "Welcome Summer" picnic. (Which we hold at our family farm, complete with a pond filled with bullfrogs) I used candy spearmint leaves (cut in half) instead of the gumdrops and chocolate jimmy sprinkles instead of decorating gel (held on with a smidgen of white frosting. Oh, and used green foil cupcake liners too! Fabulous!! Huge hit for the kids and adults alike. Thanks for this cute, cute recipe!
So cute! I'd recommend pistachio or Key Lime cupcakes, or basic vanilla dyed green-- especially with the blue frosting to make it look like the frog's coming out of the water. I've loved frogs and toads ever since I was really little....can also use Rolos with a chocolate cupcake to make toad cupcakes :)
These were fun to make and a hit with my niece!! Had problems with my icing as it was soooo humid - but the kids still thought they were cute!! Used my Lemon Yogurt Cupcakes for cupcakes. Thanks!
So fun!! My DD and I made this for her best friend's birthday. The BF adores frogs and *loved* her cupcakes!! In a kid magazine, we saw a similar cupcake with the icing being blue so it looked like the frog's eyes were peeking out of the water. Also a cute idea! I had to buy large gumdrops so I sliced each one in half and used the cut side for the front of the eyes. It worked really well. The cupcakes were Super Moist Chocolate Mocha Cake. Thanks for sharing a such a fun recipe!
I loved making these! I made them for my son's last day of school as they studies frogs this month. Perfect! Thank you so much for a cute design idea!!
Had rainy day with gkids , they had so much fun making and eating. Will use for upcoming bake sale.
