This recipe is supposed to be passed from friend to friend. It is a friendship exchange recipe and it requires a dishpan-size bowl to make them as it makes 10 DOZEN cookies. Take them to friendship parties or cookie exchanges.

Directions

  1. Combine oil and brown sugar in a very large bowl or dishpan.
  2. Add remaining ingredients in the order given, mixing well after each addition.
  3. Drop by spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet; flatten slightly.
  4. Bake at 325° for 10 to 15 minutes, or until golden brown.

My grandma makes these cookies and they are my favorite! I'll pass on regular chocolate chip cookies, but these are different- and BETTER!

The only difference I made was adding a 1 cup of oats, and 1 cup of roughly chopped pecans.

Really not sure what went wrong but this was too dry to "drop" even rolling was a challenge -- 10 dozen cookies is about 9 dozen to many balls to roll that will not stick together. I love the taste and might try it again some time.

This is an old family favorite - we've been making them for generations! Another reviewer mentioned that there may not have been enough oats. Our recipe calls for 1 1/2 cups oats, but no chocolate chips. I'm getting ready to make one EXTREMELY large Father's Day sheet cookie out of these - and I think I'll add the chocolate chips too!
