Fun recipe. I found the flour and bread crumbs over-proportioned compared to the egg wash, which disappeared fast into the sponge-like flour-coated mac and cheese. Using the recommended measurements I made 16 1-inch cubes and ran out of egg wash, but had tons of flour and bread crumbs left over.

I made this tonight with left over Kraft Deluxe boxed mac and cheese. It turned out great. After I breaded the mac and cheese bites I froze them for about thirty minutes, they kept their breading and shape throughout the frying process and tasted SO GOOD!

This was a blast, and such a tasty treat! I sub'd Italian breadcrumbs for the Panko (I think Italian breadcrumbs have so much more flavor!) and did use boxed macaroni w/a lil bit of shredded cheese mixed in. Sooooo tasty, and so much fun to watch my boyfriend squirm trying to figure out what I was doing! I will make this so long as my metabolism keeps! :-) Thanks!

I just finished making these with our leftover Thanksgiving Baked Macaroni (also from this site!) and they are fabulous! I used chili powder and fried for about 1.5 minutes and it was perfect. Like someone else said, its not quite like the fast food equivalents (which is all I've ever had), but I think its better!

I just made some tonight with some leftover mac and cheese and it was very good. the only thing I did differently, instead of frying in hot oil I cooked mine in a frying pan with some butter and got it nice & crispy. I would make this again the next time I have leftover mac and cheese.

I'd love to kiss the cook that came up with this brilliant idea. This is a completely splurge-worthy dish. Crunchy and perfectly golden outside, molten and creamy inside. Heavenly.
I did need a second batch of egg wash, but otherwise made as directed.

Awesome recipe! I love the hint of spicyness the cayenne papper gives it! Thanks a lot!

These were good to me, but too spicy for the taste of my guests. I was also expecting more of a Jack in the Box taste, but these were far from it. I'm going to tweak it a bit because I definately think it has potential.

I put a box of stove top stuffing mix in my food processor, whirl it around and use it for my breading. It's already seasoned perfectly, and you can use any variety you want!

Excellent! I used a box of Stouffers Frozen Mac and Cheese. I cut the frozen mac and cheese into squares. I did add 1 tsp of cayenne pepper to breadcrumbs also! I will definitely make again!!! YUM!

theses were so good and very easy to do. i did all of the breading early and stuck them in the freezer for an hour or so before cooking. i didn't have panko on hand but regular bread crumbs worked fine. i forgot to put the seasoning in the flour so we seasoned them as we ate them - they were still really good.

I didn't have Cayenne Pepper but I'm sure it's for added flavor, so even without it, I'm pretty satisfied with the recipe! I'll make this again the next time I don't want to eat my Mac & Cheese plain.
