I tried these after seeing the movie by the same name. They are delicious.

  1. Mix flour, cornmeal, sugar, cayenne, and herbs.
  2. Dampen tomato slices with soymilk.
  3. Coat with flour mixture.
  4. Heat oil to medium in a heavy, nonstick frying pan.
  5. Fry tomatoes, turning once or twice, until golden brown.
  6. Remove tomatoes to serving platter.
  7. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  8. To bits of browned flour in pan, add 1/2 cup milk.
  9. Cook and stir until a gravy is formed.
  10. Pour over tomatoes.
  11. Serve immediately.

Great recipe! I didn't have cayenne pepper, so I imagine they will be even better with it next time. Thanks for the recipe.
