  • 1 head cabbage, cut into bite size chunks (of a bag of shredded cabbage)
  • 3 -5 slices bacon
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 dash apple cider vinegar
  • salt and pepper
  • 3 dashes hot sauce, to taste (optional)

  • Chop up your bacon and render in a medium sized pan (with high sides) until nice and crispy.
  • Throw in about 1 tablespoon of water to de-glaze the pan and saute for 4 minutes.
  • Add in 2 tablespoons of butter and the chopped onion. Cook onion 2 - 3 minutes.
  • Add in the cabbage salt and pepper and saute so that it's well covered with bacon drippings and butter.
  • Turn heat to low cover, and cook until cabbage is to desired tenderness. If needed add a bit of water to help cooking (careful not to add too much). Stir occasionally.
  • Turn off the heat and add a dash or two of apple cider vinegar, a few drops of hot sauce (optional) and salt and pepper to taste.
