Fresh Fruit Salad Dressing

"This is a very refreshing dressing over any fresh or stewed fruit. Try sprinkling some desicacated coconut over top of the dressing.I like a mixture of banana, orange green grapes, apple, and whatever seasonal fruit like apricot, peach. You can also add fresh dates or figs. Your salad, your choice"

  1. Wonderful fruit salad dressing, Bergy!! DH, who always says he dosen't like yogurt, loved every mouth full!! Lovely combination of spices and honey, certainly complimented the fruit. I used all fresh fruit, except for the mandarin oranges; red grapes, banana, peach, pear, plums, kiwi, mandarin oranges, the lemon zest and no fat yogurt. Also sprinkled the coconut over, which added a nice little crunch. I was hopping to have some for breaky tomorrow morning, but it's not going to happen, DH keeps going back for more!! Thanks for sharing another great one!!

  2. Truly tasty! I had this for lunch this afternoon. I used a combo of seedless green grapes, peaches and apples. I sprinkled dessicated coconut on top - nice crunch! The combo of the spices is lovely! Plus, it's low cal too - wow! What more can ask for :) Also, I love yogurt and fresh fruits - this is a winner in my books! Thank You, Bergy - Your THE Best! I plan to make this again using a flavoured yogurt, probably, strawberry yogurt:)

  3. What a refreshing dressing for my fruit! I used nonfat yogurt and orange rind with mine. Nice blend of spices! Thank you very much.

  4. A scrumtious dressing to put over fruit. I also used no-fat yogurt and thought the flavor was still delicious. Very fresh tasting and a yummy spiced flavor. I used bananas, apples, oranges, pears, grapes, and strawberries in my fruit salad. Thanks.

  5. This was okay. It's a good way to make a dressing for fruit in a hurry. Does not fare well after a day or two.

Tweaks

  1. Delicious. It tastes like Christmas spices but also fresh from the lemon zest. I used Balkan yogurt, creamed honey, allspice in place of nutmeg in a lesser amount because we do not consume intoxicants, powdered ginger, plus the rest of the ingredients. We had this over recipe#112648 which I recommend without the banana in it. I would make this again the same way.

  2. This was excellent! I used strawberries, blueberries, red and green grapes and Granny Smith apples. I did make a couple of changes due to my inabilities... I ended up with vanilla yogurt since I'd bought it on accident, and since I can't make lemon zest to save my life I tossed the apples with lemon juice instead. It got rave reviews, and everyone wanted the recipe, so it must have worked. I will definitely be making this every time I have fruit salad from now on.

On January 10 2010 I will celebrate 9 years of Life with Zaar. I can't imagine being without it! It has become part of my daily routine. I feel very privileged to be one of the hosts on the Photo Forum. Taking photos of my culinary efforts is a full time hobby and I love it. My friends all know what to expect when they come to dinner "Are you finished taking pictures?" or "Did you get a photo of so & so?" I never let them wait too long and the food is NEVER cold! I now have over 6000 photos on Zaar - some fairly good and some definitely not so good. I am happy to say that practice does help. My roots are in Vancouver BC Canada - a very beautiful city that holds many wonderful memories for me. In 1990, I decided that for my retirement years I may want to settle in a smaller community and found a slice of heaven in the North Okanagan B.C. I love living here but every once in a while I miss the bright city lights, the Broadway shows and some of the small wonderful ethnic restaurants that Vancouver abounds in. That is easily resolved. I just take a trip to the coast, visit with friends for a weekend see a show and feast on Dim Sum or other specialty foods. I am getting a bit long in the tooth but was a very adventurous person. I have river rafted Hell's Gate on the Fraser river, been up in a glider over Hawaii (no not a Hang Glider!), gone hot air ballooning in the Napa Valley & the Fraser Valley, driven dune buggies on the dunes in Oregon, Para sailing in Mexico and tried many other adventurous, challenging, fun things. I have yet to try bungee jumping or sky diving. I may do them yet. I love to travel and experience other cultures. Mexco has been a favorite haunt. I have visited that lovely country many many times. Australia is another favorite as is England! In the past 16 months I have taken off 61 pounds and feel wonderful. I am off all medications and all systems are GO! In years I may be 79 but in spirit I am still in my forties. We are only as old as we allow ourselves to feel. Always think positive. Do something a bit challenging every day & always do something silly every day. Be a kid again! Laugh every day - it is internal jogging.
