Fresh Fruit Salad

"This is my slight variation of an old Southern Living recipe. I made it for the family Christmas dinner one year and everyone wanted more. The original calls for honeydew melon balls, but I had no honeydew on hand, so added an extra apple. I also diced the apples, cut the grapes in half and cut the orange sections into halves to make everything easier for the children to eat. The original called for 1 sliced apple. The preparation time does not include chilling time."

 1. Wonderful! I was taught to make fresh fruit salad in cookery classes when I was 11 years old, and this is a similar techique to all those years ago! I had to run a little bit free on the selection of fresh fruit I had available - I had oranges, apricots, grapes, apples, pears and the honey and the fruit juices...........so I went with those! I garnished my salad with mint leaves and we enjoyed this for breakfast with croissants and apricot jam! Made for 5 A Day in the photos forum - thanks so much for reminding me of this simple recipe! FT:-)

Since I practically live on this website, my daughter thought it fitting for me to finally post a little about myself. I have so enjoyed getting to know little snip-its of the amazing cooks on this site, I feel I should join the masses and share a little about me :) I am recently retired and now have even more chances to explore new recipes and cook for my family. I have always believed in a home-cooked way of life for my family and fortunately have bestowed my joy of cooking onto my children. Although my DH is an extreme meat and potatoes kind of eater, I have managed to find opportunites here and there to explore the many facets of flavorful cooking.

I have the privilege of having my oldest living just down the street with my beautiful, bright grandson, who I bring home with me after school everyday. My father is also down the road and LOVEs enjoying my treats at least once a week. The best, though, is when my daughter- who shares this hobby and love for food with me- comes to town and we spend hours planning, searching and preparing fun new recipes.
