Fresh Apple Cake

"This is another recipe clipping that Mom collected. I am sure there is one here on Zaar, but I just want to put it here for safe keeping. These are all cut out of magazines and I have no idea which magazine or paper they came from. Some are even newspaper clippings. This was submitted by Mrs E R Clack of Merkel"

• Yields: 1 cake
• Serves: 6-8

ingredients

• 1 cup butter
• 2 cups sugar
• 4 eggs
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 1 teaspoon clove
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
• 1 teaspoon nutmeg
• 2 1⁄2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1⁄2 cup water
• 2 cups apples, raw, chopped

directions

1. Cream butter and sugar together.
2. Add eggs-one at a time-beating well after each.
3. Sift spices and flour together.
4. Add alternately to creamed mixture with water.
5. Fold in fresh apples into the batter.
6. Pour into a greased and floured pan.
7. Bake at 350* for 45 minute.
