i have always used this same recipe, with the exception that for the topping, i mix crushed pecans, brown sugar, melted butter, cinnamon and nutmeg. crumble on top.
My oh my! Where to begin! This was by far the best French Toast I have ever made and eaten. This was very easy compared to dipping each individual piece and then frying. In my oven it only took it about 20 minutes. The only suggestion that I have is to more than "slightly spray" the pan because there was a sticking problem. I topped with a dollop of homemade whipped cream and some strawberries. *Made this for photo tag*
