This is nearly the identical recipe I made for my mother one Mom's Day, except it called for Beefy-onion soup mix. To die for! We served it with roasted red potatoes and were in heaven. I highly recommend trying this.

This is a fantastic recipe. I cooked it in my slow cooker on low for 8 hours. I browned the roast first but this isn't necessary if time doesn't permit. I love red wine as a base for the broth.

This was a really good roast. I put all of the ingredients in the crockpot for 7hrs ,and then I had a very tender roast. The only thing I didn't add was the mushrooms ,but I think next time I will try them. Thanks Mystergirl for such a delightful and easy main course.

Great pot roast recipe, Mysterygirl!. I made it in my crockpot. Quick and easy, and I was out the door. I added some carrots in the bottom of the pot, but otherwise made the recipe exactly. However, When I make it again I will use 1 cup water and 1 cup wine. It was a little heavy on the wine for my taste, but otherwise a very good recipe.

I made this up before leaving for work. I discovered I had no onion soup mix so I used sliced onions, and 2 beef boullion cubes in place of it. I browned the roast on the stove, then placed it in the crock pot. I then sauteed the mushrooms and onions together and smothered the roast with this. I put the rest of the spices together with the wine and poured over all. The meat was very tender and had a delicious flavor. I did not have time to make the gravy later, so I shredded it and put it on buns with the onions and mushrooms. Wonderful sandwiches, wish I had a bigger roast. I will make this again and fix it as it should be. Was really good the way I fixed it, though.

Great recipe! The roast was very tender and the gravy was delish. I served it with mashed potatoes, green beans and biscuits. Thanks.

This recipe has to be the best I have ever had for pot roast. The meat was so moist it practically melted in your mouth. I messed up by not looking at directions when I first started...I also mixed in a can of low fat cream of mushroom soup along with the onion soup mix but I just added another cup of merlot and a cup of water. I also added red potatoes, carrots and turnip so I had a whole meal in the pot. I recomend this recipe to anyone that loves a real tender, delicious pot roast...thanks mysterygirl
