French Onion Soup

"An great, easy and tasty version of the old time french classic. Not sure where this family recipe came from, but believe me it tastes fantastic. You can use gruyer cheese or a sharp cheddar for this recipe. A pre-packaged beef stock from your local supermarket it a great shortcut for this recipe."

  1. I love onion soup and this is fabulous tasting, simple and cheap to prepare, an overall great family friendly recipe. I made this especially to freeze into small portions to have for my lunch over the cooler months but couldn't resist a bowl full as part of my dinner tonight. Thanks P W Kid - hope you did the dishes tonight ;)

  2. This is a great, yet simple, version of French onion soup. We all thoroughly enjoyed it, including our French exchange student who said this soup is his father's favourite dish. I'm guessing he must have tasted some awesome versions, and he loved yours. I followed the recipe as written. Thanks for being such a great adopted chef in early 2007.
