  • For the tart

  • 1 pastry shells (homemade or store bought)
  • 6 apples, cored,sliced 1/8 " thick (golden delicious)
  • 14 cup sugar
  • 4 tablespoons butter, cold,sliced thin
  • 12 cup apricot jam, heated and strained

directions

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Arrange the apple slices decoratively on the pastry shell.
  • Sprinkle sugar on top, dot with butter slices and bake in middle rack for 45 minutes, until the apple and shell are golden.
  • Brush with heated apricot jam while tart is still hot.
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream.
  • Note: prep time doesn't include chill time for pastry dough if you decide to make that yourself.

  2. I don't know whre I went wrong, but my tart was swimming in liquids. The crust sopping wet. Perhaps the apples it need a thickener? Corn starch? Won't make it again.
     
  3. What a great easy recipe....I could have put another row of apples in it though...I used splenda for the sugar and it turned out fabulous...

I love food. I always think that's one of the few things in life we should all spend more time with, have more care in the food we eat and how and how much. I moved to New York right after college. I work long hours, but that's the case at all financial consulting firms in the city. I cannot list all the perks involved with living in the city. There are so many amazing restaurants here. Some insanely expensive, some so cheap you can't believe. I have been having lots and lots of fun trying them out. Moreover, New York seems to have endless supply of world class, and world varied, ingredients, which makes cooking infinitely more fun.
