- crushed ice
- 1 1⁄2 ounces dry gin
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon superfine sugar
- 6 ounces chilled champagne
- Half-fill a 14-ounce collins glass with crushed ice. Pour in the gin and lemon juice and stir in the sugar. Pour in the champagne.
This was good but I would shake it with ice and then serve it straight up next time.
Lovely cocktail, bright and delicious. The gin plays quite well with the other ingrediants.
I like this tangy lemony and POTENT cocktail very cold! I suggest you shake the lemon juice, sugar, and gin (or Cognac) with ice, and then strain into a chilled Champagne flute or highball glass full of fresh cracked ice; top off with chilled Champagne. I also upped the gin and lemon juice ever so slightly (if you make the Cognac version you may want to up the sugar slightly, as well). Otherwise, made as written.
