The title says it all.
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1⁄2 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup milk
- 3 1⁄2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 3⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- Cream together shortening, brown sugar and sugar.
- Add to the mixture eggs, vanilla and milk.
- Mix together and add flour, soda, salt and baking powder.
- Stir in chocolate chips.
- Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a cookies sheet.
- Bake 375°F for 12-13 minutes.
Nice soft cookies - they hold their shape well when baking, and are tasty. I did double the vanilla extract and used a 12 oz bag of chocolate chips.
These are pretty nice cookies. I like the soft texture of the cookie itself but I feel like something is missing - maybe it needs a bit more vanilla. The recipe definitely needs double the chips if you want all the cookies to have chips. I'm not sure what size you estimated the quantity but with a small scoop (that is about 1 1/2 tsp size ball) gave me 72 cookies!! I have a lot of cookies to freeze for later which is great as this is a very inexpensive recipe and comes together very quickly. Made for 123 Hit Wonders tag game!
as i was making the batter for these i was anticipating a 3 star review, because it tasted very plain and just kinda blah, but once i baked them up i found that they tasted rather good, even in the spots without chips. Preferably i like a cookie that will spread and these kinda just stayed in mounds, but were very good nonetheless and , just like the title says, they are very soft. thanks for a very good cookie recipe.
