These beans are wonderful for anytime of the year not just the 4th of July. Perfect for picnics, church suppers, reunions or just any night of the week. I love to have them with my macaronni salad.
- Mix all together.
- Pour into 8 X 8 baking dish.
- Lay bacon across the top.
- Bake at 350* until bacon is brown and beans are bubbly.
My husband said this was the best item on our Fourth of July table. But I made a couple adjustments, which I think affected that. I fried the bacon before putting it on top of the beans. That way, I could remove most of the fat from the dish. I also cut each bacon slice in half, so there was a separate bacon piece for each serving. The baking time with the bacon precooked was 1 hour.
Great baked beans, loved the flavor and the ease of preparation. Made half the recipe for the two of us and we cleaned the bowl. Had these as a side to baked bbq chicken and mac & cheese. Thanks for posting.
