(fooled Ya) Spaghetti Sauce

This is something my daughter does to get her boys to eat more vegetables. It sure works for her...should work for you!

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 4 cups of your favorite red spaghetti sauce
  • 12 cup carrot, sliced thin
  • 12 cup frozen peas
  • 12 cup frozen wax bean, cut in small pieces

Directions

  1. Prepare vegetables & steam until soft. Add more water as needed so water continues to boil.
  2. Heat up spaghetti sauce.
  3. Add one cup of sauce to blender along with two cups steamed vegetables. Close top & place kitchen towel over top. Puree. Be careful -- this is hot stuff!
  4. Empty into clean pot.
  5. Repeat until all the vegetables are pureed.
  6. Add some water (from the steamer) if sauce is too thick for your taste.
  7. Serve over spaghetti.
  8. You may change the vegetables to meet your needs.

I had never thought of using veggies like these in spagetti sauce,but then I thought"why the heck not?" I had some leftover cooked peas and carrots in the fridge so I used them up.This is a very nice recipe,will make it again! Thanks Happy Harry!

I gave this five stars for adaptability. I didn't use canned sauce. I used my homemade sauce but I followed the blending directions and used carrots, celery, onion and bell peppers. My four super picky kids all had seconds. What a grand idea. I will be trying this idea on many sauces. Thanks Happy.
