Flagstones was a restaurant that I used to go to with my family as a child. Their fruit salad was one of the signature items on their menu. Once you try it, you will make it over and over again.
- 1 can sliced pear
- 1 can sliced peach
- 1 can pineapple chunk
- 1 can bing cherry
- 3⁄4 cup jellied cranberry sauce
Sauce for Salad
- 1⁄2 pint heavy cream
- 1⁄2 cup mayonnaise
- 3⁄4 cup confectioners' sugar
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons vanilla
- 3 drops lemon juice
- Drain and chill pears, peaches, pineapple chunks and cherries.
- Whip cranberry sauce and add to the fruit; let stand for several hours.
- For sauce, mix cream, mayonnaise, sugar, vanilla and lemon juice until creamy smooth.
Those were the days weren't they, when you could go to Flagstone's with the family and get a good meal at a decent price! I had this fruit salad many times and since I made it, now my kids love it too! I make it in the summer when I can get bing cherries and pit them myself, rather than using the canned, which I have never seen in the stores. This is so lovely, and it was one of my favorite desserts as a child. I was always asking my mom and dad to take me there so I could have some! It's so funny that you posted the recipe. I am SO HAPPY!!! Thanks for the memories, and especially for this memorable recipe Denise! Karen
Very nicely done, Denise. Only change I made was to add a little more lemon juice as we all like a slightly tarter taste. Thanks for posting.
