Five Points Home Fries

"Delicious home fries as prepared at the Five Points Restaurant in New York City. I make them with unpeeled baking potatoes. Serve them for brunch with your favourite egg dish!"

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to boil over high heat.
  • Add the potatoes.
  • Return to the boil.
  • Cook until just tender, about 7 minutes.
  • Drain well in a colander and allow to cool.
  • Heat the olive oil in a 10" skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the onion.
  • Cook, stirring, until golden, about 10 minutes.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Add the garlic and paprika.
  • Cook, stirring, 4 minutes.
  • Raise the heat to high.
  • Add the potatoes.
  • Cook, stirring constantly and adding more oil if needed, until the potatoes have crisped and browned to desired doneness, about 5 minutes.
  • Season with salt and pepper.

<p>I live with my husband, four cats, and a sweet mutt named Jada in Scarborough, Ontario, where I work as an elementary school administrative assistant. I have a 31 year old daughter who lives with her boyfriend in nearby Don Mills, along with my sweet granddogs, Frankie and Turbo.
