I always thought this was my mom's recipe! I am surprised no one added the bisquick biscuits my mom used to put on the top near the end of cooking. Don't use the premade biscuits; make them from the recipe on the bisquick box because they are better that way. This really makes it for the kids. My mom also added red wine to make a better flavor. Also my kids don't like green pepper and celery so I leave those out. My mom also floured the meat and browned it in a frying pan prior to adding the meat to the stew. She also added a bay leaf. I miss her so so much!!

  1. Mix--Cover tightly--Bake at 275* for 5 hours.
  2. Don't lift lid while it's cooking.
