directions

 • Combine sour cream, mayonnaise, cilantro and 2 tablespoons seasoning mix in small bowl.
 • Combine fish, vegetable oil, lemon juice and remaining seasoning mix in medium bowl; pour into large skillet.
 • Cook, stirring constantly, over medium-high heat for 4 to 5 minutes or until cod flakes easily when tested with a fork.
 • Fill taco shells with fish mixture.
 • Top with toppings.

Questions & Replies

 1. I'm so confused. Is the mayo mixture a sauce, or am I cooking it with the fish?

 2. Do I put the oil fish and lime juice into the sour cream ?

 1. GREAT recipe. I used Tilapia.

PROS: Amazing sauce, very quick and easy, cutting the fish into pieces rather than strips is perfect, overall taste fantastic

CONS: as other reviews have stated only use 1 T. oil and 1 chopped green onion added to the sauce is a Necessity. While adding hot sauce later is good, mixing 1 t. garlic/chili sauce in with the fish before frying is better,

OVERALL: This is definitely my new fish taco recipe. 4 stars for the few needed additions/subtractions but this one is worth making monthly or for friends.

 2. This was an awesome fish taco recipe! I really liked that it wasn't fried, so many are battered and fried. I made a few changes, but nothing drastic and this came out great! I added a good squeeze of lime juice into the sauce which was heavenly. Loved that the best I think. I used tilapia since that is what I had on hand. I also used shredded lettuce, cheddar cheese, salsa and green onion for toppings since I don't like cabbage. The fish was great and tender and tasted fresh and flavorful. We put everything on a warmed flour tortillas and altogether this was an excellent lenten lunch! Thank you for posting Tish, I can't wait to buy some more fish to make these!!! yuuuummmmmmmy!

 3. These directions do not make sense!?want to make them but have no idea what to do with the ingredients in the small bowl?

 4. this was delicious!!
it was super fast and very easy to make! i was at first hesitant of adding the taco seasoning thinking that it would make the fish taste like beef, but it complimented it perfectly!
we used talapia, wheat wraps, lowfat sour cream with 1 teasp of mayo for a healthier meal and it was perfect! will definitely make this over and over again! thanks for sharing this recipe!

 5. Such a great meal! It is my husband's (who doesn't like fish)favorite meal! I used snapper the first couple times but I am using tilapia tonight. Also, I found an adobo chile sauce on another recipe that I use for dipping. This recipe rocks!!

Tweaks

 1. With the sour creme and mayonnaise I used a cucumber and added to the sauce. It was a little runny, so next time I will squeeze/drain some of the water out of the cucumbers. Using this combo gives the sauce a much lighter taste.

 2. Loved this! I subbed: Swai instead of Tilapia/Cod. Chicken Taco mix instead of Beef Taco mix. As per other suggested tweaks, added garlic to the fish and green onion to the sauce, and scaled back the oil to 1 tbsp. Fantastic! Thank you so much for this recipe!

 3. Great recipe- thank you! I tried this with cubed chicken thighs as well & it was so tasty Yes, some guac spread on the taco is essential. Thanks to everyone for your tips.

 4. Just cooked this! Soooo good! I also used less oil and taco seasoning than it said and I used romaine lettuce instead of cabbage and spread avocado on tortilla along with the sauce mixture before adding everything else. Delicious!!! Family loved it! Only we all only had one...next time I will double the recipe so that we can have more!

 5. This recipe will make you look like a superstar! I used lime instead of lemon and plain yogurt instead of sour cream because that is what I had on hand. My husband caught some Popio (local Hawaiian white fish) that we used. Less than 24 hours from ocean to tummy. :D

I live in Las Vegas. I was lucky enough to run into Recipezaar around Nov. 2000 and got hooked quickly. I am a cookbook collector and have been collecting recipes for as long as I can remember. My DH had to build in shelves for all my cookbooks! I like to dabble with OAMC and for a few years hosted the Budget/OAMC forum with some great people over there. Even though I don't work in the forum any longer I've set up a lot of cookbooks for the purpose of OAMC and stretching food that might be helpful. Please feel free to check them out! I go on food jags and cooking jags! Please come say hi to me and chat on facebook. I currently host a blog for saving money through finding deals and coupons if you are interested. Most of the time I try to cook and have a good dinner on the table but I'll be honest enough to say there is still fast food occasionally in the budget! I have had such wonderful support here whenever I need it. Thank you all for being here! Just a quick note on how I rate recipes: ? 5 stars - This recipe is perfect. (My DH is truly a critic and doesn't give 5's unless it's amazing) I would recommend it to others and would definitely make again. ? 4 stars - This recipe was good but I would change something in it next time. ? 3 stars - This is a recipe I would not make again but it was OK ? 2 stars - This recipe I would not make again and we didn't like it at all ? 1 star - This recipes did not work out/taste was unappealing and wouldn't make again
