I have been making this for years- absolutely one of my favs! I add a 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon- and sometimes cook carrots with the turnip and mash it all together.

This recipe was a favorite of my finnish fiance. I was pleasantly surprised by the flavors. He commented "just like mom". The ultimate compliment.

I made this at my Mom's request, as a side for our Christmas Day dinner. It went very nicely with our rack of pork roast. I used fat-free 1/2 & 1/2 and followed the recipe exactly. Mom said she used to put a lot more sugar in her yellow turnip casserole but since she's diabetic, I thought it best to stick to the amounts listed here and I feel that it was just right. Thanks for posting this recipe gruvygrl, it's the only Finnish yellow turnip recipe on Zaar (that I could find anyway)!
