Yummy wings recipe from the cookbook Centennial Collections. Prep time does not include marinating.
- 3 lbs chicken drummettes
- 1 cup soy sauce
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1⁄4 cup pineapple juice
- 1⁄4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- n pan, heat all ingredients, except chicken, until sugar is dissolved. Cool.
- Marinate chicken in sauce overnight.
- Arrange in shallow pan, single layer, pour sauce over chicken and bake 1 to 1 1/4 hours at 350º. Turn chicken at least once.
Grrr the masses were drumming their empty plates and shuffling impatiently behind me while I tried to take photo's of this on the buffet table. Later after the dinner queue had subsided there were only two left to photograph decently and they looked lonely so I ate them before the masses came back for seconds... so we will have to go with this pic.. ok ? The taste is mellow, succulent and tasty and went down well with our crowd. It did take a lot longer to cook due to all that marinade in the dish.. in the end I got sick of waiting and poured most of it off and it semi roasted the last 15-20 minutes.
