- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup butter or 1 cup margarine, softened
- 1 egg, separated
- 1 1⁄2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup finely chopped filberts
- Heat oven to 275.
- Mix sugar,margarine and egg yolk.
- Stir in flour and salt.
- Spread in ungreased jelly roll pan,15 1/2x10 1/2x1.
- Beat egg white slightly,brush over dough.
- Sprinkle filberts over top,press lightly.
- Bake until golden brown,about 1 hour.
- Immediately cup into bars,2x1 inch,cool.
