A light version of chicken and gravy - who knew it would be so easy?!? The gravy is very rich and flavorful, great with the chicken. I had some chives on hand so used those instead of the optional green onions. Comfort food without the guilt - thanks for sharing a great recipe! Made for the Best of 2011 event, recommended by LifeIsGood
I loved that this recipe was healthy but still had that comfort food feel. The gravy was delicious. I served mashed potatoes on the side so I could use all that gravy. The chicken was done perfectly. I did add some salt and pepper while cooking. Since we always have boneless skinless chicken breasts on hand, I will be making this recipe often. Thanks!
Oh. My. Goodness. This was GREAT! I loved it all; the moisture and pseudo-fried crust on the chicken, the heavenly gravy, and the nice presentation! I doubled the gravy ingredients because I served this with mashed white/sweet potatoes and wanted some gravy for that. Yum. I made this for Best of 2010 tag and I can guarantee it will be in my gamebook for 2011!
This was fantastic! My DH actually cleaned out the pan. I did not have any dijon mustard so just used regular mustard plus a pinch of sugar. I only used two chicken breasts which made a bit more gravy to spoon over the top. I kept thinking that I would like to add a bit of thyme but it's so good as is that I don't think I'll bother messing with the recipe. Thank you.
Amazing dish - I cannot believe how full of flavor this is for an easy and very filling chicken recipe. Loved that there are hardly any calories and the family could not even tell. I did add a Vidalia onion as the optional item but did not change anything else. Gave us 4 really nice portions for the family tonight and served some brown rice and broccoli and we are stuffed. So glad I made this for the Healthy Choices tag game.
You know, this would work for a holiday dinner for the two of us. Just add a touch of cranberry sauce and a pumpkin tart and there ya go! :D. I would not have thought of browning the flour first but it's a great touch. Although it doesn't come through in the photo under the harsh indoor lights the gravy was a creamy golden color. You could serve this to anyone and nobody would know that it's low fat. We loved this and it's old time comfort was perfect on this snowy Canadian night.
Easy as heck to put together - and full of flavor - with all the comfort in the world - I love the fact it's lower in calories - but doesn't taste at all like that! I added the optional onion and some fresh thyme to the top - but no other changes were made! Thanks!
Super way to get flavor while you are on a diet. This was really great. I had to cut my chicken breast in half to get the 4 oz portion, so my picture looks a little strange :). I used organic fat free milk, and it worked wonderfully. Thanks for sharing this keeper recipe!
I made 2 chicken breast halves and the full recipe of gravy so I would have enough gravy for A-1 Dumplings. The chicken was tender and tasty, the gravy and dumplings were delicious! Thanks for posting PR Princess. Made for When It's Hot Tag Game.
My family loved this. I doubled the recipe and followed the recipe exactly as written other then I didn't add the optional onions. I also used butter instead of margarine as that is all I had. I used the milk and not the evaporated milk. I am not a huge fan of dijon mustard but it just gave the gravy a very good taste. There wasn't a piece left and I was told I could make this any time.
