A very common dessert in France

  1. Peel and slice the apples. Put the apple - slices in a casserole dish, add the butter and 70gr sugar and bake for 15 minutes at 350°F.
  2. Meanwhile, beat the eggs, with the rest of the sugar. Add the milk and the flour to make a soft dough.
  3. Allow the apples to cool.
  4. When apples are cooled, put the batter on top of the apples and bake for 60 minutes at 350°F.

This had great flavor, and was certainly easy to prepare, but I wish the directions were a bit clearer. I agree with Brenda... it's obvious that the flour needs to be measured by weight, not volume. I made the mistake of measuring by volume and ended up with a filling that was way too thin and just didn't set properly, even after an extra 10 minutes in the oven. Once I pick up a kitchen scale, I'll be happy to try this again. :)

This was different from the apple pie I am used to , but nonetheless tasty. I would probably cut the batter in half next time as there was a lot of batter compared to apples. I converted to US measurements and weighed the ingredients. I believe I was successful with my measurements as the dessert was lovely. I too added a sprinkle of cinnamon and served warm with vanilla ice cream. Thanks for sharing katia :) Nick's Mom

Made for Photo Tag Fall 07 I had ALOT of trouble figuring out the measurements...its totally my fault...the batter part was way too dense and rubbery.:( Made properly...this would be lovely...it does'nt show in the photo so I will upload it anyhow. I added some cinnamon and nutmeg as well.
