    AmyZoe's Note:

My Mom calls this "the recipe on the door" because that's where she kept it. She said it came from a magazine in the 70s. My Fancy Franks turn out a little different each time because I like to try variations. It's a family favorite and a complete "kid" recipe (although I still love it). You may find you want to add a touch more tomato sauce. I also like to throw in a few fresh tomatoes.

My daughter LOVED it!! (so did I). I used a couple extra hot dogs because I am greedy and subbed the chopped tomatoes for tomato sauce since thats what I had .My noodles were pasta shells. This will be made all the time from now on. Thanks for sharing AmyZoe!!!

This was pretty tasty. I used frozen onions and frozen peppers, so it was a little wet, but I let it simmer on the stove while the pasta was cooking, and once I added the cheese, it tightened right up. In fact, I had to add a little of the pasta cooking water to loosen it back up again. Next time, I might fry or grill some Italian sausage and use that instead of the franks; the frankfurter flavor didn't quite mesh with the Italianate flavors of the rest of the sauce; I'll probably also use a more Italian cheese like mozzarella or fontina, and add some Parmigiano.
