I rarely bake anything but I had the ingredients on hand for this and tried it. Well I jus might be a "baker" now. These were good!! Just like real "homemade" Oatmeal Cookies. Thanks Melismak.

These cookies passed the 3 year old cookie fanatics taste test and will be added to my weekly cookie baking menu. Crunchy and great tasting. Thanks for the recipe!

A pretty good soft oatmeal cookie for those who don't care for raisins. It could use a little spice I think. Thanks for posting.

Made one low fat change....only 1/2 c shortening, which turned out fine. Also added finely chopped pecans. The cookies are wonderfully light and crispy. We love 'em.

Great oatmeal cookie. The texture is crisp on the outside, but still a little chewy inside - perfect! I'll definitely make these again.

I raised my kids on this recipe. It is our favorite oatmeal cookie recipe. These cookies are nice and crispy on the outside with a softer chewy texture on the inside. I add about 1/4 cup peanut butter with the shortening.

I changed this up a bit due to a couple of the reviews I read and what I had on hand. One review gave me the courage to go ahead and bake these without worrying if I had the right shortening. I mixed butter and canola oil. I used whole wheat flour, and I added a mixture of cinnamon, cardamom, and ginger. These cookies came out great. Excellent base recipe. You can't mess it up ;-) Thank you!

My dad loved them, and that means a lot because he owned a bakery :) The recipe is good as written, but I made some change: I subbed the shortening for 2/3 cup of oil, so they were crunchy (but I like them better that way). If you want them chewy, just bake it 9-10 min. The dough was very sticky (probably due to the oil) so I chilled it. I did add 1tsp of cinnamon and subbed the granulatd sugar for Splenda, but kept the brown sugar (very important in a cookie recipe! :p). Thank you!

This is a good, easy cookie to make. I do agree with other reviewers that this cookie needs a little something, so I added a 1/2 tablespoon of cinnamon for a little bite, and I lightly buttered the baking pan. Nice cookie to enjoy any time of day.

These are your oat cookies, if you like them crunchy. Very very good, just like Hobnobs, said my DH. When I just want plain oat cookie, this is what I will make.

This is the recipe that used to be on the box of Quaker Oats when it was sold in a cardboard container about a million years ago! Since they've taken it off some years ago, I thought the recipe was lost. Luckily, I found mine on an old collectible tin I have. These are the cookies I get cravings for! I always put a lot of walnuts in mine and only use real butter. They will be a bit thinner with the butter but the taste is incredible. Thanx for posting... in case I lose my little tin with the recipe on it!

Was on a cooking spree today and at 8:00pm I wanted some cookies! Looked in pantry and found some oats and came on recipezarr to find the perfect oatmeal cookie and this one is it! I dislike rasins so this recipe was awesome! I added some cinnamon (actually a lot as I love the taste) and fiance already ate 6 and I am not even done baking all of them yet! Great, quick and comes together sooooo easy. I will be making again in the very near future! Wonderful way to end the weekend! THANKS!
