I agree with the other reviewers...about the nutmeg and cloves. I remember the clove taste, but I think it's best without the nutmeg. I also cut back on the ketchup since it made it more tomatoey than the original Dog Sauce. They used dill pickles to top their awesome dogs. Gee...I sure miss that place...cobwebs and all....
What kind of pickle did they use?? Any ideas??
Agree with camohn, the nutmeg and clove is very heavy. I have reduced the amount on the second time around which is cooking now :) I am not sure this is the exact hotdog shop chili but I will say it seems pretty close minus the heavy nutmeg and clove. From what I am tasting this time I think its still heavy. I am wondering if teaspoon and tablespoon may have been reversed in the recipe.
this was a little heavy on the nutmeg and clove for me, those flavors came through a little TOO much. I would cut those in half next time. I do like those in there, but they ended up a little overpowering.
