I recently made this recipe with both venison steak and venison burger since it is a staple in our freezer. My husband absoluetly loved this recipe! Venison is very lean so I cooked it in olive oil first than added the mix to tortillas, rolled them up and baked them in the oven with salsa and cheese on top. I did cut down on the amount of seasoning salt but that is personal preference. Very yummy, thanks!people found this review Helpful. You can only vote others' reviews helpful or not helpful... I loved the mix of ground beef with steak in these! I used a packet of burrito seasoning for the taco seasoning, I mashed my own beans instead of using canned, and I used fresh onion instead of dried (what I had on hand). I was actually taking most of these to work, so I put the chopped tomato, shredded cheese and sour cream on the inside of the burritos for neater transport. Even without the lettuce and extra salsa, these were great! One coworker (who is a hunter) actually asked me if I'd make a batch of these for him with some ground venison and venison steaks that he has. Very good, Thanks for posting!people found this review Helpful. You can only vote others' reviews helpful or not helpful... Was this review helpful to you? Yes | No We don't know who you are. I have to admit that I'm a Burrito virgin and that I didn't have a clue what this was meant to taste like. Since I was a little nervous I just made this with double quantity of minced meat (ground beef) and not with steak which is very expensive here. I added two packets of taco seasoning and since I know that these are already reasonably salty, I added no salt. (there were no complaints that it wasn't salty enough so that worked out prefectly) I did manage to find refried beans (at a larger AH shop for anyone shopping in NL who wants to make this)and a mild Salsa since we were having guests and I was unsure how hot "Hot" salsa would turn out to be... Mild was fine, most of us dared add more to several of our burrito's. I used small sized tortillas so that they were easier to handle and cherry tomatoes cut up, becuase the smaller bits were easier to manage and their taste to usually better then the big (supermarket)tomatoes. Please see my rating system, 5 stars for an excellent meal that serves a crowd without breaking the bank. With it's salad extras it means that everyone will find a filling to please, it's easy to make, tasty, and very much appreciated on a very un-Dutch 32 degree C day. An excellent way to make ground beef go a long way and presents very well indeed. Thanks!people found this review Helpful. You can only vote others' reviews helpful or not helpful... Jan this was outstanding. I used all double ground brisket because that is what I had and I don't think it altered this recipe one bit. I also added extra taco seasoning, for personal preference and decreased the amount of seasoning salt (I think I only used about 1 1/2 tsp). I served this with Avocado Salsa which was very good with the combination of flavors. Thankspeople found this review Helpful. You can only vote others' reviews helpful or not helpful...
