A yummy crowd pleaser from Taste of Home

Ingredients Nutrition


  1. Brown beef and onion over medium heat. Drain.
  2. Add ketchup, water, brown sugar, vinegar, salt mustard, chili powder and allspice.
  3. Bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat, simmer, uncovered for 30 minutes until heated through.
  5. Spoon onto buns. Enjoy!

These were tasty. I didn't think that they were too sweet. There was just the right amount of sauce. Most sloppy joe recipes have too much sauce to suit my taste. I didn't have any white vinegar so I used red wine vinegar. I also substituted 1 T onion powder for the fresh onion because I didn't have any fresh onions and it worked out fine.

The title is son [15yo] made these last night, and the family was pleased. The flavor was a little sweeter than I would have liked, but everyone else approved, so it's a keeper.
