This is a much cheaper way to reproduce fairground nuts and available when the fair is out of town. Sometimes I use strawberry-orange juice, which gives it a nice flavor. Try any variation you like!
- 4 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon water or 1 tablespoon juice
- 4 ounces nuts (any)
- Combine the all ingredients and heat on medium.
- Stir continuously.
- When the sugar has melted and the nuts are coated, spread them on a cookie tray to dry.
- Try to separate the nuts from each other to keep them from drying as one lump.
