These were great! I followed the recipe exactly, my only problem was my stupid oven. It heats way to hot and the temperature doesn't stay consistent. So instead of cooking (and staying) and 375 it heated up past 450, my muffins didn't have time to rise and the top got a little more well done than I would have liked. I made a double batch and froze some batter, so hopefully next time my oven is more cooperative.
Great recipe! Easy to make and very tasty. The crunchy topping really makes them stand out. I cooked them for an extra 5 minutes as they weren't quite done after 20.
I'm eating one of these now - warm from the oven. They are amazingly good and simple to make! I chose this recipe because I'm making them for my stepdaughter who will be giving birth next Wednesday. I'm making ahead some things that can be frozen so she can just grab something when she's hungry. The story with the recipe caught my eye and I had to try them. They are oh so good. I don't think they're too sweet - unlike some of the other reviewers but I did use granny smith apples which were quite tart. Thanks for a great recipe Pamela!!
Love these. I used skim milk and half butter half margarine for the batter. Still turned out great.
My whole Family loved these. I have made these muffins twice. A few weeks ago and I forgot to rate it and take photo, this time around I am doing both :). I made them again yesterday. This morning there are only 5 left! These are easy and I love the crumbled topping which really makes these different from others. I did add a bit of cinnamon in the batter this time around, delicious! I will make these again. Thank you for posting. Made for Photo Forum, Egg & Dairy Event
omigosh, I forgot the sugar, and they're still really good.
I used Macintosh apples and added walnuts and a sprinkling of cinnamon in the batter too!
Loved the topping with the apples. So yummy!
Simple to prepare and great for breakfast, brunch or snack! We loved the topping! I might add some nuts to the topping next time for a little crunch. Yummy slathered with butter and a sprinkle of sugar!
Fantastic. I made these for a bridal brunch and everyone loved them.
