Easy dinner, I reduced the water a bit but the fritos were still a bit too mushy. However, my family still ate it up! Next time I will reduce the water a bit more and cutback on the cooking time a few minutes.

I love frito pie so I decided to try it Emaw's way. It was okay. I prefer not baking as long so that the fritos still stay kinda crunchy. Making it this way, the fritos get very mushy and all I could think of was baby food. I'm sorry riff but it just didn't go over well here. Dan wouldn't even eat the leftovers. I think this is one of those times that I should just stick to what I know I like.

Oh Emaw! Have you made this Texas girl happy!I prepared this Friday night as a special treat using left over chili from our chili cook-off. I followed your instuction exactly. Never once did I stir but I was so tempted. This dish was just too easy and better yet it was absolutely sinfully delicious! Passed this recipe over to my daughter. We really enjoyed this. I will be making this often and thinking of you! Thanks so much!!!!!!!!

I didn't stir, but added one ingredient for extra protein. I scattered cooked diced chicken breast on top of the fritos before topping with the other ingredients. It was great. Next time I'm going to use monterey jack & cheddar cheese instead to see how that tastes.

I was fortunate enough to get a sneak preview of this recipe before it was posted so I made this yesterday for lunch. Should have made a double batch because it went over so well. Our youngest, she's 16, had 3 helpings! I made it exactly to Emaw's recipe, never stirring it once. I am not a Frito person but this is really good. The Fritos cooked up and gave it a great flavor. Tell Emaw thanks!

This was super good. Took this to a cookout instead of chili and it was a real hit with my friends. Some had never heard of chili pie, but they all enjoyed it.I used homemade chili, this was very easy to put together and very filling for sure.

That Emaw knows her stuff!! She made some Texans very happy. My mother use to make this while we were growing up in Fort Worth. All of the flavors really do taste so good together. I made this just like Emaw said and we were lovin' every bite. Thanks for sharing her wonderful recipe, riff!! :-)

Hi Riffraff,I make sonic chili pie all the time.but never thought to put onions and tomatoes on it,WOW did that ever dress it up.Loved the taste of the sweet onions on it.and liked the tomatoes too.I didn't use the water, so it was not soaked up.just crispy. Thanks,Darlene

This easy casserole reminded us of tamales. The tomatoes on top added a nice flavor. My husband said he was going to use the casserole for a burrito filling because he thought it would taste great. Thanks riffraff.

What a fast and easy recipe! It took me less than 5 minutes to put it together and throw it in the oven. I didn't have any tomatos so I used a can of rotel instead, put a little zing to it. I sub the American for Colby Jack shredded due the the fact, I didn't have any American in the house. I wanted a little crunch to it, so I served it over some fresh Fritos. I Loved it!! The manchild loved it too, he even told me that he couldn't even taste the tomatos ;) Next time I make it, I think I will put a little ground beef in the chili, just to supplement that canned stuff. Normally i don't buy it, but I will now when I plan on making it again. Give Emaw big smoochies from me. Thanks for posting this awesome recipe Riff!!!!!

I am a Yankee and the combination of ingredients in this dish were completely foreign to me. I knew it was something I had to make. Last week I made Just Cher's award winning chilli and the leftovers went into this pie. It was the most amazing combination of tastes---My chips didn't get mushy--they kept their texture and tasted great. I did follow Emaw's directions to the letter. It is even good cold--just sneaked a nibble from the fridge--Thanks again my Texan friend!

I loved that this recipe was so simple. Made it just as is, no stirring! I used cheddar cheese because we don't care for american cheese. I will be making this for football season I think it will be great for the guys.

Loved this!!! I had this some time ago when I was younger. I believe my Grom made it. This brought back so many memories and my kids asked for more and more. I used jack and cheddar mixed together. Thanks riff!! This was so much fun!

This was one of those not bad but not fabulous dinners. Nobody complained, but nobody raved. I'll put this on reserve as it was very easy. It didn't keep very well, so I'd plan on eating most of it the first time around.
